Obaseki Lauded for signing into law the disability bill

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has given persons with disability a Christmas and New year gift by assenting to the disability bill protecting disabled children from being victimized.

This was disclosed by the  Executive Director, Christabel Otueroro foundation, Mr. Onome Otueroro and the Coordinator, Forum of Nigeria Women in Politics, FONWIP, Hon Florence Gbinigie  during a Christmas party held by Otueroro foundation for physically challenged children in Benin City.

The signing of the bill into law by the Governor, after twelve years was described  as a well deserved Christmas gift for the less privileged children.

According to the Executive Director, Christabel Otueroro foundation,  “we appreciate the governor for signing the disability bill into law and we appeal that when the Commission is to be set up, members of the special people with intellectual disability should be on the board. We are very excited with the law.”

The Coordinator of FONWIP who was represented by Hon Favour Eghe Oseki thanked Governor Obaseki and the House of Assembly for the law which protects the right of children living with disability.

According to her, “FONWIP has been behind the agitation for the passage of the bill all this while and now it has been assented to by Mr. Governor, we are very happy with the development”

She commended the Christabel Otueroro foundation for organizing the Christmas party for the children and she advised the parents not to be ashamed about the condition of their children noting that God knows why He made them like that.

There was  presentation of awards to Pastor Benson Eribo and Mr. Eromosele Kingsley Irabor who are  both members of the board of trustees  of Christabel Otueroro foundation and gifts to the children and parents who graced the Christmas party
