The candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 Presidential election, Mr Peter Obi and the party’s Candidate in Edo State’s September 21 governorship poll, Mr Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata have tasked the Benin monarchy to lead advocacy for free and fair election in Nigeria.
The duo appealed when the Campaign Council in Oba Palace at the sidelines of the party’s campaign flag-off on Saturday in Benin City.
Addressing the Benin throne during the visit, Mr Obi said, “Let the people elect those who will serve them”.
“Your Majesty, that is our simple request and I think you’ve always been a father to all. And I know in this election, you will remain a father to all”, he stressed.
Earlier in his remarks,
Mr Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata promised that the Labour Party will provide people-oriented and impactful governance if elected as the next Governor of the State.
He also solicited Oba Ewuare’s prayers and blessings to enable the Labour Party to win the forthcoming election.
The Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, wished the Labour Party well in his governorship ambition, describing him as a son of the soil.
