PUNCH Metro established that Hamidou was in hiding from March 2023 to December 2023, receiving daily donations from bank customers.

Our correspondent learned that the manager of a bank in Abeokuta, the state capital, filed a police report after noticing that the donations had not been transferred.

After several failed attempts to get the suspect to repay the donations, Hamidou is said to have disappeared into thin air despite police efforts to arrest him.

However, an official from the state police command, who did not wish to be named to reporters, said the suspect had been arrested.

Confirming her arrest to Punch Metro on Saturday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Omolola Odutola, said the suspect was arrested on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

“Yes, she was arrested. She was transferred from Ibadan to Ogun State where she was arrested. She confessed to the crime. She could not explain what she did with the money,” Odutola said. told Punch Metro on Sunday.
