The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has responded to allegations of negligence in the death of a student, Ajayi Abimbola Adejoke. The management of the polytechnic clarified that Adejoke passed away due to pregnancy-related complications and not as a result of any negligence from the school’s clinic. The Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Mr. Sola Abiala, issued a statement to address the circulating rumors. Some students had accused the staff members of the school clinic of being high-handed and delaying treatment for Adejoke. However, the polytechnic’s medical reports revealed that she was properly attended to and, realizing the need for specialized care, was referred to a private hospital outside the institution. She was accompanied by her boyfriend and was transported in the school clinic’s ambulance. Unfortunately, she passed away at the private hospital.
