Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, visited the home of the late Director of Finance and Administration in the Governor’s Office, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, expressing condolences to the grieving family. In response to the tragic event, the governor declared a one-week mourning period with flags flown at half-mast across the state to honor the departed. Governor Abiodun also pledged the state’s full responsibility for the welfare and wellbeing of the family left behind by Mr. Oyekanmi.

 

The late director was attacked and murdered in Abeokuta while on an official assignment. Governor Abiodun, emotionally affected by the incident, described Oyekanmi as diligent, hardworking, honest, and God-fearing. He expressed the profound impact of the killing on the Governor’s Office and the entire state workforce, vowing to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.

 

During the condolence visit, the governor, alongside state officials, conveyed deep sympathy and solidarity with the grieving family. Tayo Oyekanmi, the younger brother of the deceased, expressed gratitude for the governor’s visit and urged swift action to uncover those behind the killing.

 

The family acknowledged the shattered destiny and cut short dreams not only in their household but in the entire Ifonyintedo community in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state. The younger brother requested the governor’s intervention to swiftly identify and apprehend the culprits to alleviate the pain suffered by the family.

 

The governor assured the family that efforts would be intensified to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and bring those responsible to justice.
