Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, don collect another big recognition after LEADERSHIP Newspaper name am Governor of the Year 2026.

According to di newspaper, di governor’s work for security, education, healthcare, roads and infrastructure na some of di main reasons wey make dem choose am for di award.
For security matter, Okpebholo government don introduce different measures wey dem say na for fighting kidnapping, cultism and other criminal activities. Government don sign Secret Cult and Similar Activities (Prohibition) Law, 2025, plus Kidnapping Prohibition (Amendment) Law, 2025.
Government also don create special security operation wey dem call Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists, with di aim for improve intelligence gathering and make security agencies fit respond better to criminal activities.
For education, di administration don announce construction of more than 100 schools and recruitment of about 6,000 teachers to reduce shortage of teachers for public schools.
LEADERSHIP also point to increased financial support for Edo State-owned tertiary institutions. Di monthly subvention for Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, reportedly rise from N41 million to N500 million, while Edo University, Iyamho, see its allocation increase from N25 million to N250 million.
For infrastructure, government don continue with road construction, drainage works and flyover projects across different parts of di state. Di administration also procure 100 interstate buses for di rebranded New Edo Line.
For agriculture, government don provide tractors wey dem say go support farmers across Edo State’s three senatorial districts and help boost food production.
