Okpebholo Establishes Ecological Funding and Management Commission, Names Agbomhere Chairman

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the establishment of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission, a new regulatory body designed to drive sustainable environmental management across the state.

The commission, according to government officials, will serve as the legal and institutional framework for mobilizing and utilizing ecological resources in a transparent and accountable manner. It is expected to strengthen coordination among stakeholders, align Edo’s policies with national and international climate commitments, and promote biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and environmental justice.

To pioneer its activities, Governor Okpebholo nominated Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, Esq., as Executive Chairman, with Felix Ibhade as Executive Director (Projects), Ivie Uwaifo as Executive Director (Administration), and Khadijat Yusuf as Executive Director (Finance). Their names have been forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
