Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended members of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) for maintaining a harmonious working relationship with the Executive arm of government, describing it as key to the progress recorded in the state.

The Governor gave the commendation while receiving the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, principal officers, and other members of the Assembly during an Easter visit to his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.

Speaking during the visit, Speaker Agbebaku reaffirmed the Assembly’s continued support for the policies and programmes of the Okpebholo administration, noting that the House remains committed to helping the government fulfil its campaign promises to the people of Edo State.

He commended the Governor for what he described as notable achievements since assuming office on November 12, 2024, and pledged sustained legislative backing, particularly in the passage of budgets to drive development.

“We are here to celebrate Easter with you and to appreciate the good work you are doing for Edo people. As a House, we will continue to support your administration and ensure that necessary approvals are given to enable the implementation of your developmental agenda,” Agbebaku said.

The Speaker also highlighted key infrastructural strides of the administration, noting that the construction of the state’s first flyover would remain a landmark achievement.

In his response, Governor Okpebholo expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for fostering unity and cooperation between the Executive and Legislative arms, which he said has significantly contributed to the achievements recorded within one year of his administration.

According to the Governor, the existing synergy has created a peaceful environment for governance, enabling the implementation of policies and execution of projects aimed at improving the lives of Edo residents.

“I am pleased with the level of cooperation since I assumed office. The peaceful atmosphere created by the House has helped us achieve our goals and move the state forward,” he said.

He urged the Assembly to sustain the collaborative spirit, noting that greater achievements would be recorded in an atmosphere of unity and mutual understanding.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that continued cooperation between both arms of government remains essential for delivering more developmental projects and strengthening governance in the state.
