Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday led top government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on a condolence visit to the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, following the death of his mother, Mrs. Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa.
The governor was accompanied by the APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; Deputy State Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; party Secretary, Lawrence Okah; Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor; commissioners, and other party leaders.
Speaking during the visit, Okpebholo described death as inevitable and urged the family to take solace in the fulfilled life lived by the deceased.
“Your mother lived a good and fulfilled life.
For her to have successful children like you shows she lived well. Death is a debt all must pay, and only God can console the family,” he said.
He assured the deputy governor and his family of continued prayers and support, noting that the loss had created a significant vacuum.
Also speaking, Senator representing Edo North and former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, described the deceased as a mother figure not only to her children but to members of the party and the state at large.
“I know how you feel because of the closeness you shared with your mother. She was not just your mother, but a mother to all of us. Be strong and thank God for a fulfilled life,” he said.
Responding, Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa expressed appreciation to the governor and his entourage for the visit, which he noted came less than 24 hours after his mother’s passing.
“Despite your busy schedule, you made time to visit us. It shows your love and support for the family,” he said.
Idahosa disclosed that the family would soon meet to finalise burial arrangements and communicate same to the government and party leadership.
He also commended the governor for his support and guidance, describing him as a leader and mentor whose advice has been instrumental in his political journey.
The condolence visit comes as family members, friends, and political associates continue to sympathise with the deputy governor over the loss.
