Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development, declaring that he is determined to leave the state better than he met it.

Okpebholo made the statement during a tour of ongoing and completed projects in Edo Central, accompanied by Nigerian music star Idris Abdulkareem.

The governor said his administration is focused on delivering measurable progress in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare, leveraging increased federal allocations under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He noted that the large turnout of residents during the inspection tour reflects growing public confidence in his government, adding that governance must translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives.
“When I say we will deliver 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu, people doubt it. But today, you have seen how people are coming out because of what we are doing,” the governor said.
Okpebholo emphasized that the state government is channeling available resources into critical projects such as roads, schools, and healthcare facilities, which he described as essential to improving living standards.
“These roads are in Edo State. We must work for Edo people. You have gone round schools, roads, hospitals. These are the things our people want to see, and that is exactly what we are doing,” he added.
Speaking during the tour, Abdulkareem said his visit was aimed at independently verifying claims of development in the state, commending the governor for visible progress.
“I came to see for myself if Edo is truly working, and I must say the governor has done a lot. In the next one or two years, the achievements will be even more evident,” he said.
He also urged Edo indigenes, especially those in the diaspora, to return home and witness the ongoing transformation firsthand.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, described the governor as responsive and people-oriented, noting that the scale of projects across the state reflects a strong commitment to development.
He added that further progress is expected as the inspection tour extends to Edo South.
