On Monday, a fire gutted a three-story orphanage home on Wole Madariola Street inTwo are kidnapped by gunmen in an Abuja community raid at midnight. the Aguda area of Lagos State, rescuing seven children.
In a statement on Monday, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the fire was brought on by a power surge from the building’s air conditioning unit.
According to Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, the Agency received the distress call regarding the fire incident around 2:43 p.m.
“A one-story building housing an orphanage/motherless babies home was engulfed by fire that reportedly started from an air conditioning unit in the house as a result of a power surge and was said to have quickly spread out,” the statement read in part.
“A sum of seven young men with ages going somewhere in the range of one and seven years were immediately emptied from the Home and securely moved to the compound inverse the Home.
“Supervisory group of the Home educated LRT regarding plans to move the kids to the place of the proprietor of the Home for a brief time, to guarantee their government assistance was supported.
