The kidnapping of a Muslim cleric in Ondo State, Alhaji Ibra Alli Bodunde, has led to theBrain loss: 5th of July 2023: FG moves to bring Nigerian health workers abroad arrest of three people, including a father and daughter.
The 67-year-old, Chief Imam of the Uso Community in the state’s Owo Local Government Area, was kidnapped last month while working on his farm.
He was delivered the next day after apparently paying N2m recover.
On Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, greeted the suspects at the command headquarters in Akure, the state capital, and stated that the suspects were arrested as a result of the prompt action of the command personnel.
She claims that Muinah Mohammed, Aisha Bello, and Isah Bello are among the suspects.
She said, “On June 18, 2023, one Mrs Bodunde, around 6pm, went to the Uso Division to gripe that her better half, Alli Bodunde, went to the homestead and he should return around 2pm yet tragically when they didn’t see him, they sent two people to the ranch to search for him.
They were unable to see him when they arrived at the farm, but they could see his vehicle and phone. The man was freed at the end of the day after the police took action as soon as the incident was reported.
“However, during the investigation, we realized that the man in question is the Chief Imam of the Uso community, and we were able to arrest the suspects through our intelligence team.”
Isah Bello, one of the suspects, claimed that his accomplice Mohammed took his daughter Aisha’s SIM card and used it to call the victim’s family to negotiate a ransom.
Bello said, “My little girl (Aisha) came to me to gather my other SIM card from me. I asked her what she wanted to use the SIM card for, but she didn’t say anything serious, so I gave it to her since I no longer use it.
I had no idea what they did with the SIM card. Mohammed, I don’t know this boy. I had no knowledge of the situation. I went to the Area Command office to self-report because my people told me about the situation. I was not arrested.
Aisha, on the other hand, acknowledged that she gave Mohammed her father’s SIM card, but she claimed to be unaware of the reason he collected it.
Odunlami said the suspects would before long be charged in court toward the finish of the examination.
