On Friday, Olukuluku Kabiru, a man from the Lokoja area of Kogi State, was electrocuted while he was causing damage to a transformer owned by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company at a substation on Camp Road.
Michael Eneromi, manager of the power distribution company, said that the company was contacted after the body was found at the substation. He also said that the transformer at the station had been vandalized multiple times.
“We fixed the transformer just last week in response to a report from the community after it was vandalized. We sent a letter yesterday requesting approximately N1.9 million to repair the transformer after another report of vandalism on the same transformer, he stated.
Eneromi stated that the vandal’s electrocution cleared the company of claims that its employees were to blame for the state’s electricity infrastructure vandalism.
