The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency confirmed the detention of two Ghanaians, Monday Saba and Hakeem Kwana, as well as 11 additional suspects for drug-related offenses in various regions of the nation. Femi Babafemi, the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, issued a statement on Sunday that confirmed the development. In it, he stated that officials of the agency had intercepted two imported consignments of a potent strain of cannabis known as loud, each weighing 5,344.1 kilograms, along the in the Lekki area of Lagos State. He also revealed that, according to reliable information, NDLEA agents ambushed a white truck on the Epe-Lekki Expressway in the early hours of Monday, June 19, transporting 50 jumbo bags weighing 2,434.1 kilograms of the illegal substance. According to Babafemi, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and made his way out in a security van that was escorting the drug truck, which was demobilized by anti-narcotics officers, he added. Two Ghanaians are detained after NDLEA intercepts hard drugs in Lagos. In five months, NDLEA has detained 181 Ogun drug suspects: In just five months, the NDLEA has detained 181 suspects. The spokesman for the agency went on to say that the following day, on the basis of intelligence, officers in the marine command of the agency intercepted a boat carrying the same imported substance weighing 2,910 kilograms and arriving from Ghana around Alfa Beach. According to Babafemi, "Two Ghanaians, Hakeem Kwana, 27, and Monday Saba, 30, were found with the consignments, and were promptly arrested." Abubakar Mohammed, 32, and Nuhu Sale, 43, were arrested in Niger State on June 18 along Abuja Expressway, Suleja, with 31 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 517 kilograms. Amina Alilu, 30, was arrested on June 21 in Ogbogodo village, Dekina LGA, Kogi State, with 171 kilograms of the substance. “On Thursday, June 22, 34-year-old Ogedegbe Dorcas, a suspected fictitious female security agent, was also captured with 30 kilograms of cannabis at Ajegunle in the Asa Dam Area of Ilorin, Kwara State. On Saturday, June 24, 42-year-old Segun Olajide was captured with 49.2 kilograms of the same substance in Oyo town.
