Following the Federal High Court’s Abuja verdict requiring the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to pay Dibu Ojerinde, the former registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, N1 million in damages, the commission plans to file an appeal.
Wednesday that the Government High Court, Abuja, granted a N1 million fine against the ICPC for theEid-El-Kabir: Emir of Ilorin cautions against excessive admiration, teaches solidarity 28th June 2023 unlawful confinement of previous Recorder, Joint Confirmations and Registration Board, Dibu Ojerinde.
In addition, Justice Obiora Egwuatu imposed a fine of N200,000 on the ICPC in order to cover Ojerinde’s legal fees.
According to Justice Egwuatu’s ruling, it was undisputed that Ojerinde was facing charges of conspiracy to sell, selling forfeited property, and possessing multiple identity cards under various names.

“The ICPC has communicated its disappointment with the decision of the Government High Court, Abuja.
“The Commission plans to appeal the court’s decision. The counter debasement organization had a substantial warrant given by the Central Appointed authority of the Government High Court dated December 6, 2022, the ICPC said on Wednesday.
In a case involving 18 counts of money laundering, the ICPC had brought the former JAMB boss before Justice Egwuatu.
He was accused of stealing N5 billion in public funds.
However, Ojerinde was re-arrested on January 26 by anti-graft commission agents as he was driving one of his sons to his car after Justice Egwuatu postponed further proceedings regarding the charge that was preferred against him.
