Ondo Amotekun prosecutes 600 suspected criminals – Commander

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has announced that it has successfully prosecuted approximately 600 suspected criminals in court between January and June of this year. The commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, Akogun Adeleye, made this disclosure during the parade of 48 additional suspected criminals at the corps’ headquarters in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State.

Adeleye emphasized the significant decline in kidnapping cases in Ondo State, stating that it has decreased by 90 percent. He further added that the remaining 10 percent of cases are mainly concentrated at the borders of the state. However, in these few instances, the Amotekun Corps has been diligent in ensuring the rescue of victims and holding the suspects accountable for their actions.

The commander highlighted the message being sent to criminals, emphasizing that Ondo State is not a safe haven for their activities. He stressed that the Amotekun Corps is committed to tackling crimes such as kidnapping, car theft, housebreaking, and other criminal acts. Adeleye emphasized the importance of criminals understanding that they will not escape justice for their actions.

Regarding the 48 suspects that were paraded, the commander explained that they were arrested across the state during the ongoing “Operation Safe-Ground.” The crimes allegedly committed by these suspects include kidnapping, cattle theft, attempted murder, fraud, counterfeiting of money, cultism, burglary, arson, anti-grazing activities, and vandalization of critical government assets, among others.Ondo Amotekun prosecutes 600 suspected criminals – Commander

Adeleye assured the public that all the suspects would soon be charged in court. He stated that the Amotekun Corps has thoroughly profiled each suspect and will ensure that they face legal consequences for their actions. Those found guilty will be sent to correctional facilities.
