Ondo Turmoil: Deputy Assumes Duties as Akeredolu Heads to Germany for Medical Care

In the latest development, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is returning to Germany for further treatment.

His Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, stated that Akeredolu would transmit a letter to the state House of Assembly, handing over power to his deputy,

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the acting governor. The governor, reportedly suffering from cancer, had previously handed over during medical leaves, leading to a leadership vacuum and factional divisions in the executive council. Despite previous resolutions to end impeachment proceedings, the political crisis continues, and Akeredolu’s absence has prompted calls for an investigation into alleged signature forgery. As of now, the Assembly has yet to receive Akeredolu’s letter regarding the transfer of power. A legal practitioner, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, emphasized that the resolution of the political crisis lies within the state and not external bodies.Ondo Turmoil: Deputy Assumes Duties as Akeredolu Heads to Germany for Medical Care
