The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, has called for urgent collaboration between the council and the Edo State Security Corps to tackle the growing menace of indiscriminate parking and loading by bus drivers and motorists within the LGA.
During an on-the-spot engagement with the Edo South Zonal Commander of the State Security Corps, Chief Jones Usoh (Rtd.), Hon. Iduseri commended the efforts of the Corps in maintaining order across the state, particularly in curbing reckless parking.
However, he decried the reported harassment and assault on security operatives by errant motorists and bus drivers, stressing the need for a coordinated response to the disturbing trend.
He emphasized the importance of synergy between the Corps and other stakeholders to ensure peaceful operations and sustain the integrity of security efforts, while also condemning the activities of miscreants who attempt to sabotage the Corps’ mandate.
Speaking specifically on the issue of illegal parking and passenger loading around the Ekiosa axis and other critical areas within Oredo, the Council Boss declared that such acts would no longer be tolerated. He issued a stern warning to those obstructing traffic or interfering with security operations to desist immediately or face legal consequences.
In his response, Chief Jones Usoh thanked the Oredo Council Chairman for his continued support and pledged the Corps’ commitment to work closely with the Council to restore sanity across the LGA. He assured that reports of miscreants interfering with the Corps’ duties would be thoroughly investigated and addressed.
Hon. Iduseri’s firm stance on curbing traffic congestion, harassment of taskforce personnel, and illegal waste disposal reflects the Council’s proactive approach to improving urban order and public safety across Oredo Local Government Area.
