The Executive Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, has presented a ₦14.84 billion 2026 Appropriation Budget, tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainable Development,” aimed at accelerating grassroots development across the local government area.
Presenting the budget on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Council Secretariat in Benin City, Iduseri said the proposal was carefully designed to drive infrastructural growth and improve service delivery across all wards in Oredo LGA.
According to him, ₦6,772,250,000.00 has been allocated for capital expenditure, underscoring the administration’s strong commitment to infrastructure development and people-oriented projects.
He explained that the recurrent expenditure stands at ₦8,071,019,405.77, structured to maintain administrative efficiency, enhance staff welfare, and ensure uninterrupted service delivery, including the prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
The council boss stated that the 2026 budget aligns with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the “Project Shine Agenda” of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
He noted that the capital component will focus on critical sectors such as road rehabilitation, market development, strengthening of primary healthcare services, environmental sanitation, agricultural support programmes, youth empowerment initiatives, and improved security architecture across communities in Oredo.
Iduseri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent management of public funds, assuring residents that every kobo allocated would be judiciously utilised for the collective benefit of the people.
In his remarks, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Reliance Okungbowa, commended the chairman for the developmental strides recorded in the local government and assured that the House would give the budget speedy consideration and passage.
The high point of the event was the formal presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Leader of the Legislative Arm.
Dignitaries present at the event included Rtd. Gen. Charles Airiavbere; Hon. Osaro Obazee; former Oredo Council Chairman, Mr. Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe; party leaders; ward chairmen; and other stakeholders across the local government area.
Speaking on behalf of party leaders, Rtd. Gen. Charles Airiavbere commended Iduseri for what he described as visible development across the length and breadth of Oredo LGA and pledged continued support for his administration.
