The manager of the Spanish national team Luis Enrique has stated that he would not mind if his players engage in sexual activity the night before a game.
The ex-Barcelona coach made the announcement on a Twitch feed, keeping his word to supporters that he would maintain the channel for as long as Spain remained in the tournament.
To the question of whether or not players should be warned against having sex before games, he replied, “It’s ludicrous” (to ban it). Honestly, I don’t see anything unusual about it at all. Obviously, it’s not ideal to be at an orgy the night before a game, but as a club coach, I have no such concerns because my players sleep at home the night before every game.
If they do it, it’s because they feel they have to or want to. But I stress again: use your brain! Two of each, please. This occurs naturally. We did what we had to do when I was a player and if I was at home with my wife before a game.
Spain’s best player, Ferran Torres, is dating Enrique’s daughter and reportedly joked that she would “cut his head off” if he didn’t start him in a game.
The manager of the Spanish national team responded to a question about who on the team would be most like Enrique by saying, “That’s quite easy — It’s Mr. Ferran Torres,” adding, “else my daughter will come after me and chop off my head.”
An audience member later in the broadcast asked Enrique whether there was any nation he would have liked to play in more. Even though the Italian league was extremely competitive during my prime, I feel that I would have benefited from playing in England due to the opportunity to improve my English, witness the more physical and intense kind of football played there, and immerse myself in a new culture.
