OSOGBO, Osun State — Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following his reported victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, saying the outcome reflects the will of the electorate.
Makinde’s reaction places the Osun election within the broader democratic conversation in the South-West, particularly around voters’ ability to determine political leadership through the ballot.
The governor commended Osun voters for participating in the electoral process and described Adeleke’s victory as an indication that the people’s mandate had prevailed.
The development comes after months of intense political activity in Osun, where Adeleke sought another term amid a competitive contest involving major political parties and candidates.
Ahead of the election, the contest attracted considerable attention because of its implications for the political balance in the South-West and the strength of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the region.
