The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has requested for additional soldiers to address the increasing crime rate in the state. This request came after the abduction of six pupils, three teachers, and a driver from Apostolic Faith School, as well as the killings of two traditional rulers in the state. Governor Oyebanji expressed his belief that the presence of troops would help prevent similar incidents in the future. In response, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, called on the governor to consider engaging locals to support security agencies in combating criminal activities.
He also emphasized the importance of having a comprehensive database of visitors to enhance security measures. The Chief of Defence Staff assured the governor of continuous support to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
