A two-storey building on Amusu Street, Orile Iganmu, Lagos, collapsed early Monday morning, causing panic among residents. The structure gave way suddenly, prompting nearby residents to flee for safety, as seen in a video circulating online.
According to reports from emergency responders, there were no casualties in the incident. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that the building collapsed around 8:45 a.m. The agency’s spokesperson stated that a search and rescue operation was quickly initiated, but no injuries were recorded.
It was further revealed that the building had been evacuated prior to the collapse, which helped prevent any loss of life. Emergency teams were already on the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of the area.
This follows similar incidents in Lagos earlier in the year, including a four-storey building collapse in May and another near-miss in July, where families narrowly escaped when their quarters collapsed in Iyana Ipaja.
More updates on the situation are expected.
