The Rivers State Police Command has announced that it has launched an investigation into the death of another University of Port Harcourt student. She said the woman, identified simply as Adeze and she is said to have a 200 level Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, was not responsible for her death at the time of filing this report on Monday afternoon. could not be confirmed.

Mr. Adeze’s body was discovered in an off-campus residence in Aluu, a community near the university.

This is the decomposing body of Justina Otuene, a 300-point level biochemistry student who was allegedly killed by her ex-lover, Damian Okorigwe. This happened just two weeks after he was discovered at his home. .

Mr Okorigwe, a 400 level petrochemical engineering student also from UNIPORT, was later arrested by the police.

Speaking on the latest incident, the Dean of Student Affairs, UNIPORT, Prof. Chima Wokocha, said the lifeless body of the student was found in her residence and brought to a health facility in the school by some of the deceased`s neighbours.

He stated, “Her body was brought by the Chief Lulu-Briggs Health Centre by the people who lived around her lodge.

“She didn`t die in the university hostel. She died in her off-campus residence in Aluu and the scene of crime was visited by the management of the university, including my humble self.”

Wokocha said the management of the institution and the police had visited the scene of the incident, adding that the parents of the late female undergraduate had also been notified of the unfortunate incident.

He said: “The police were also with her. We accept the fact that she had taken drugs and passed out, as there was a bottle of drugs next to her.”

When contacted, the State Police Command Spokesperson, Grace Irinji Koko, confirmed the incident and clarified the situation. It said an investigation has been launched to find out what led to her death.

She said: “The district constable said the landlord came to report that he had seen the tenant on the ground.

“So the DPO went there and saw foam coming out of her nose and mouth. I also saw a sniper near her (the student).

“So they rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An investigation into the circumstances that led to her death is ongoing.”
