The Anambra State Police Command has initiated a search for the kidnappers who abducted three individuals at different locations in the state. The goal of the operation is to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
According to reports, the kidnappings took place on Saturday at Ifite-Amansea-Awka Road in the Awka North LGA and along the Agulu-Oraukwu Road in the Anaocha LGA. Videos circulating on social media show masked gunmen kidnapping two individuals in an SUV at Ifite-Amansea-Awka. Another victim was taken away by a different group of gunmen along the Agulu-Oraukwu Road.
Eyewitnesses stated that the assailants intercepted the victims’ vehicles, forced them out, and fled in their own vehicles, leaving the victims’ cars behind. Gunshots were fired during the incidents to create fear among the locals.
The Anambra State police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the police have recovered the victims’ vehicles and have put in place joint security measures to prevent similar incidents in the state. He assured the public that the police are conducting manhunt and rescue operations to free the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
The Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed the tactical teams to intensify their efforts and ensure that the criminals are brought to justice. The police command is determined to leave no stone unturned in hunting down the assailants and ensuring the safety of the residents.
