Police Rescue 9 Kidnap Victims Along Benin–Lagos Expressway

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of all victims abducted during a recent kidnapping incident along the Benin–Lagos Expressway.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the rescue operation followed the immediate deployment of tactical teams, intelligence units, and aerial surveillance ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.

The statement noted that sustained bush-combing operations and strategic pressure on the kidnappers led to the safe recovery of the victims. All rescued individuals have since undergone medical checks and have been reunited with their families.

In a related development, the Command also rescued four additional victims who were abducted earlier in the month and held captive in the Imiegba forest in Agenebode. They have also received medical attention and are in safe condition.
This brings the total number of rescued victims to nine.

The Police Command reassured residents and commuters that security has been strengthened along the Benin–Lagos Expressway and surrounding areas, with tactical and intelligence operations ongoing to ensure safety.

Efforts are also underway to track down and arrest those responsible for the kidnappings.

The Command expressed confidence that the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice.
