The Edo State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims following intensified security operations in parts of the state.
The Command said the operation was launched in response to recent kidnapping incidents reported around the Izakagbo/Iwu community and adjoining areas.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikedem, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, ordered increased operational deployment and intelligence-driven policing across the affected axis.
The statement disclosed that on April 5, 2026, operatives of the Command carried out a coordinated ambush operation at Iyera, along the pipeline after Ovia River, where suspected kidnappers were intercepted.
During the operation, a gun duel ensued, leading to the successful rescue of two victims, identified as Musibau Kehinde Tracy, 24, and Edewor John, 39, both of whom were unharmed.
The police said the victims are currently in safe custody receiving medical attention, while their families have been contacted.
It added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Command reassured residents, particularly those in the affected communities, of its commitment to ensuring safety and tackling criminal activities.
It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and useful information.
