A Board Of Trustee (BOT) member of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria ( IPMAN), Midwest Zone, Chief Peter Aigbonkonkon, has described any attempt by some members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers ( PTD) to nurse the idea of dabbling into the affairs of IPMAN as a joke of the century.
Chief Aigbonkonkon, who was reacting to the perceived rumor that some persons from the PTD extraction are trying to create parallel leadership in IPMAN said such imagination would be sternly resisted by members.
The IPMAN boss in the zone stated that the administration of Comrade Douglas Iyike is still running and would elapse in December 2023.
He described these alleged elements as miscreants and mischief-makers that want to truncate the existing peace ever observed in IPMAN, Benin Depot, since time Immemorial.
Aigbonkonkon, who further said that PTD is not their member maintained that IPMAN is a National Association which the zone has no power over.
He, however, warned these PTD members to embrace peace, just as he advised them to wait for their time if they wish to join IPMAN as members.
Meanwhile, the leadership of IPMAN, Benin Depot, has petitioned security agencies in the state over the alleged unwholesome behavior of one Augustine Egbon and Lucky Osesua over illegal collections of monies belonging to IPMAN, Warri Depot.
This was contained in a petition dated January, 27, signed and addressed to security agencies by Counsel to IPMAN, Prince Edobor Izebhigie, Esq. The petition read in part:
“We are informed by our client (IPMAN, Benin Depot), that on January 25, 2022, some members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers ( PTD) Union, a branch of NUPENG, Benin City namely Augustine Egbon, Lucky Osesua…
“Held a meeting at Limoh Suit Hotel, Benin with the intention to cause breach of peace in the state by claiming to take over/overthrow the IPMAN executives, Benin Depot led by Douglas Iyike and to take over their functions.
“As they claimed that the National body of IPMAN directed them to take over the Benin Depot IPMAN’s activities and now they are illegally collecting the IPMAN levies at Warri Depot where Benin marketers are loading at the moment, to enrich themselves”.
