During separate raids of kidnappers’ hideouts and militant camps in some parts of the state, the Rivers State Police Command claims that its men rescued a kidnap victim and recovered arms and ammunition.

At a Friday press conference in Port Harcourt, Emeka Nwonyi, the state commissioner for police, made this clear.

Nwonyi said with the assistance of a vigilante, the police brushed a backwoods close to China Extension on Wednesday, where a grabbed lady was protected.

He went on to say, “She (the victim) stated that she was kidnapped on 26.06.2023 at approximately 1950hrs along Salvation Ministry Road, Rumuosi Choba, Port Harcourt while returning from her shop to the house in her Lexus 330 SUV, whose registration number is yet to be determined.” She has been reunited with family members. The criminals are being tracked and arrested.

In a similar vein, according to Nwonyi, the Army and police invaded some cult (militant) camps in the Ahoada East and West councils. These camps were run by three self-proclaimed generals, who fled through a nearby river when they saw the police.

From their camps, the following items were found: one privately made single-barrelled weapon, nine void cartridges, two bikes, three siphoning motors, one little generator, two cutting motors, charms, and 10 sheets of zinc,” he added.

In a connected turn of events, the CP said on Monday, June 26, 2023, a group of cops joined to the Knowledge and Observation Center, Port Harcourt, while on a standard watch along Rumuokwuta, connecting Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt, located a white keke transport.

He said, “When the keke transport was looked, one privately made gun with one live ammo, one LG plasma TV, two Android telephones, one Itel telephone, and a female tote were recuperated.”

Nwonyi stated that an investigation was ongoing to capture the criminals who were fleeing and bring them to justice.Rivers police search a kidnapping camp and find the victim
