Security Guard Arrested for Stealing Customer’s Car in Rivers State

In a recent development, the Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a security guard named Meshark Monday for allegedly stealing a customer’s car. The incident occurred in the Aba Road area of Port Harcourt, the state capital. The police claim that Monday attempted to sell the stolen vehicle before being caught.

According to the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, the 27-year-old suspect, who hails from Ogoni in Rivers State, was apprehended by crack operatives of the Olu Obasanjo Division on May 2nd at around 12:45 am. Monday was driving a Toyota Corolla along Olu Obasanjo when his suspicious behavior caught the attention of the officers. He tried to evade them near the G.R.A junction but was eventually apprehended after a high-speed chase onto Aba Road.

During the interrogation, Monday, who worked as a security officer at Geepap Mobile Company, confessed to the crime. Surprisingly, despite working at the company for two years, he had concealed his driving skills. Monday admitted succumbing to temptation when hunger struck at midnight, stealing a customer’s car parked for maintenance in order to sell it and improve his life.

Upon contacting Geepap’s General Manager, Mr. Godfrey, it was revealed that Monday’s driving ability was unknown, as the stolen vehicle was undergoing repairs at the time of the incident. The case has been charged to court, and investigations are underway to apprehend Monday’s accomplices in the car theft ring.

In response to this incident, the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has urged individuals to install security cameras and alarms to prevent such incidents outside of working hours.
