A tragic road accident in Ibadan, Oyo State, claimed the lives of six individuals, including a school pupil and her mother, on Monday morning. The incident involved a trailer transporting tiles that collided with a truck loaded with soft drinks at Oke Eleshin, Amuloko, along Akanran Road in the Ona Ara Local Government Area.

According to reports, the collision resulted in six fatalities and left five others injured, with two of the injured being primary school children. The victims were taken to Amuloko City Hospital, where those with less severe injuries were treated as outpatients, while two others were admitted for more extensive care.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the accident was caused by brake failure in the trailer as it descended a slope. As the trailer lost control, it struck a tricycle, known locally as Keke NAPEP, and another truck attempting to avoid the collision subsequently hit a second tricycle.

The crash caused significant traffic delays, forcing passengers to leave their vehicles and walk. In total, two other cars were damaged in this multi-vehicle incident.

A hospital official reported that among the patients treated, one child lost their mother in the crash. Efforts to obtain a detailed report from the Federal Road Safety Commission were underway, as officials were still gathering information on the accident.
