PARIS, Jan. 11 On Wednesday morning, a man attacked and injured six people at the Gare du Nord railway station in Paris, leaving one with serious injuries before being shot by off-duty police officers.
At 06:42 CET (05:42 GMT), Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told reporters that a man had attacked passengers at the entrance and within the station with what seemed to be a homemade weapon. A knife or blade was mentioned by police as the suspect’s weapon of choice.

Darmanin stated, a criminal inquiry had begun, but no investigation for terrorism had been opened at this time when asked about suspected terrorist motivations.
After the attack, police surrounded the neighbourhood to keep it safe. Radio France International reported, citing SNCF, that train service was normal.
At the Gare du Nord station in February 2022, a man attacked police with a knife, leading to the man’s death. A man who had stabbed two persons at the Marseille railway station was shot and killed by soldiers in October of 2017.
