Police in Ekiti State have apprehended eight individuals suspected of being involved in motorbike snatching and the subsequent sale of stolen motorcycles. The suspects, identified as Adebayo Bashiru, Oluyemi Kunle, Gabriel Isaac, Abubakar Abdullahi, Macon Andrew, Peter Ninfa, Lawali Ibrahim, and Kabiru Abdullahi, are believed to have operated in the Ikere/Ado-Ekiti and Igede-Ekiti areas. The arrests were made by the police’s Rapid Response Squad, following a tip-off. During questioning, the suspects admitted to snatching numerous motorcycles and disclosed the names of their accomplices who bought the stolen bikes.
The police also recovered an unregistered yellow Bajaj Boxer motorcycle at the time of arrest. The victims have positively identified the recovered motorcycle as the one used by the robbers during the incidents. Further investigations are ongoing, and the police are determined to apprehend all individuals involved in motorbike snatching. The suspects will be charged in court once the investigations are concluded. The Ekiti State Police Commissioner has urged residents, motorbike owners, and riders to remain vigilant and has ordered his officers to intensify efforts in combating this crime wave.
