The police in Rivers State have confirmed the recovery of the decomposing body of Gift Okpara, also known as ‘2Baba’, a notorious cult leader. Okpara was killed in a joint security operation in Embrass community, Ahaoda West Local Government Area of Rivers State. He was the prime suspect in the murder of a former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ahoada Division. The police had been on the trail of Okpara and his gang members, who ambushed and killed the DPO, dismembering his body in the process.
The police were able to locate Okpara’s shallow grave in the Ebrass forest in Ahoada West and retrieved his body. Loyalists of Okpara performed a ritual and left an army camouflage on the burial site.
The police expressed their appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for their support and thanked the Rivers State Governor for his unwavering support throughout the operation.
