The deployment of the SIS is part of a comprehensive approach by the police, which includes community-oriented policing. The Federal Government has also warned against raising ransom for abducted victims, as it may worsen the security problem in the country. The government urges citizens to refrain from responding to ransom demands publicly, as paying ransoms through public donations will only embolden the kidnappers.
The government is determined to starve kidnappers of the profits that drive their enterprise. Security agencies are working tirelessly to track down the bandits and prevent further abductions.
