Governor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated a five‑member Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC) to boost power management and oversight in the state. The commission is headed by Professor Frank Nwoye Okafor, who doubles as Chief Executive Commissioner. The other members are Engr. Geoffrey Okwuchukwu Nwokoye, Dr. Nnaemeka O. Ewelukwa, Engr. Nosike Emmanuel, and Barr. Chijioke Nnaemeka Obi.

The Anambra House of Assembly passed a bill creating the legal framework for the commission, enabling regulation of the state’s electricity market and efficient power delivery.

The move aligns with the domestication of the 2025 Nigerian Electricity Act in Anambra, a process the state has been preparing for over recent years.

Soludo urged the appointees to oversee effective regulation and meet the growing energy demands of Anambra’s population and economy.
He praised the Assembly for timely passage of the enabling law and stressed that the commission must operate within its mandate while promoting transparency, accountability and innovation.

This marks a crucial step toward Anambra’s transition into a decentralized electricity market. You have been carefully chosen for your expertise and integrity. We expect you to deliver results that reflect our collective commitment to reliable and sustainable power,” Soludo said.

Commissioner for Power and Water Resources Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka noted that the state has been strategic in laying groundwork for the initiative, domesticating the federal Electricity Act for local implementation.

Chairman Okafor pledged to meet public expectations by improving power supply, ensuring energy accountability and securing revenue.Soludo Launches 5‑Member Anambra Electricity Regulatory Commission

“We are committed to ensuring that both the quantity and quality of power supply in Anambra improve significantly,” he stated, expressing optimism that past delivery challenges can be overcome.
