This is a short biography of Sonia Aimy (Born 11/04/1979) she is a great singer with an inimitable velvety voice and she also a veteran songwriter, she is also known for various educational songs, she later became a Motivational Speaker, On-Air Personality, Entrepreneur, Artist Branding, Entertainer, Cultural Ambassador/Activist, Drummer, Humanitarian and Philanthropist. Some of her famous blockbusters were Light my way mother/ewere meaning prosperity, Nigeria spirit, and so many others.
Sonia Aimy attended her primary and secondary education in Benin City respectively, after her school cert in Baptism High School, she went further to study at the College of Education, Ekiadolor, Edo State in the southern part of Nigeria. She eventually relocated to Europe, where she pursued her career professionally. In 2003 -2006 she was chosen as the best positive figure of youth in Torino, Italy. Sonia’s musical orientation came from mentoring MARIAM MAKEBA with a deep sense of African Spirituality musical message.
she was said to start her music at her early age of 11. Sonia has been able to integrate her wonderful Audiences with beautiful and inspirational vibes, Her sound is a mixture of Afro-jazz, highlife, hip hop, and call-and-response African pulling tradition, in an easy flowing, yet virtuosic performances on stage.
Sonia was born and bred in the Benin Kingdom to a humble, respectful, and well-to-do Aimiuwa family,
Sonia recalls how her mother would tell African tales accompanied with songs to her and at the age of four, she would repeat her mother’s tales to her siblings, but with a different vibe interpretation, She also went on to studied jazz music, interpretation, as well as theatre arts. Her vision is to be able to promote African Music, Spirituality, and cultural values through Entertainment and also to create awareness for women/girls’ power while educating and connecting people through African arts, Music, poets, and cultural enhancement workshops.
Sonia Aimy has received various awards and recognition from Organisations in Nigeria, Italy, and Canada, where she currently lives. However, she has also been praised and acknowledged for her selfless contributions to humanity, especially for her commitment to ending human trafficking globally and other Barbaric attitude.
Her second CD Nigeria spirit 2017 is an incantation of hope, Lady Sonia had the humour and privilege to perform at the palace of the oba of Benin, First-year Anniversary.
