Speed Darlington Raises Offer to N5m for Surrogacy, Sparks Online Debate

Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has drawn widespread reactions after publicly offering N5 million to any woman willing to have a child for him.

The 42-year-old entertainer made the offer in an Instagram video posted on 11 May 2026. He said he had previously offered N3 million two years ago but did not find a suitable candidate. According to him, the women who responded at the time were outside his preferred age range.

“I was offering N3 million two years ago, but I did not see. The ones I saw were not in the age group I wanted. So I am willing to increase it to N5 million,” he said.

Darlington stated that he prefers a non-Igbo woman, despite being Igbo himself. He claimed that Igbo women are “too proud” and said he was not interested in marriage, only in fathering a child.

“So, for N5 million, I prefer a non-Igbo person. My tribe is too proud, our girls are too proud, I do not just like them,” he stated. “I only checked them out because of my mother. Personally, I do not send Igbo girls.”

He clarified that he is not seeking a relationship or cohabitation, and specified that he prefers women between 20 and 24 years old.

“So any non-Igbo girl willing to have my child for N5 million. I do not want marriage; I do not plan to tie myself down with one woman,” he added. “I am willing to pay you N5 million, it’s just that you cannot stay in my house. So if you are interested, inbox me.”

The post quickly generated mixed reactions online, with some users criticizing the offer as exploitative and others dismissing it as a publicity stunt consistent with the singer’s controversial online persona.

The latest comments come months after the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons declared Darlington wanted in 2025 over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. The agency acted after he made a public claim about having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl, which he later withdrew, saying it was fictionalSpeed Darlington Raises Offer to N5m for Surrogacy, Sparks Online Debate

Darlington subsequently filed a lawsuit against the agency, arguing that declaring him wanted without a court order was unlawful and unconstitutional. The case is still pending.

Known for his provocative statements and unconventional public stunts, Speed Darlington has built a reputation for using controversy to stay in the spotlight. It remains unclear whether any response has been made to his latest offer.
