Speeding Driver Arrested for Hitting Pedestrian in Lagos

A driver, yet to be identified, was arrested by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) after hitting a pedestrian and causing severe injuries in the Mile 2 area on Sunday.

 

According to a statement from LASTMA, the driver, operating a Toyota Camry with the registration number KTU 447 EV, sped through a crowded section of Ewenla/Charity near Oshodi, leading to the accident. LASTMA officers present at the scene quickly transported the injured pedestrian to Comfort Hospital in Oshodi for urgent medical attention.

 

The driver was apprehended and handed over to the police at Mafoluku station for further investigation.

 

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki emphasized the importance of caution on the roads and reiterated the agency’s commitment to enforcing traffic laws to prevent such accidents. He expressed concern for the victim and wished them a swift recovery.

 

Last Friday, PUNCH Metro reported a separate incident where a driver narrowly escaped harm after a container fell in the Mile 2 area of Lagos.
