Stray Bullets Hit Two Students Outside Lagos State University

 

early hours on Tuesday morning, two students of Lagos State University (LASU) were unfortunate victims of stray bullets while outside the school campus in the popular students’ residential area known as PPL.Stray Bullets Hit Two Students Outside Lagos State University

The identities of the students and the shooter(s) remain unknown, but reports indicate that the incident occurred around 8 pm when the students went to purchase food.

One Twitter user, known as Baddy of Lasu, under the handle #belikebaddy, alerted the LASU student community to the shooting, urging them to stay indoors and avoid going out. Kappo Olawale, the Senior Special Adviser on Students’ Union Affairs to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed the incident on X.com as #kappozino. Olawale stated that he had been in contact with the university’s Student Union President, who assured him that the victims were in stable condition.

In a video that has circulated, one of the victims, a female, is seen lying on a bed with her shirt soaked in blood. An anonymous student from LASU revealed that the victims had gone to get food when they heard gunshots and subsequently ran for safety. Upon returning home, they discovered that the male student had been struck in the neck and arm by the stray bullets.

The injured student was immediately rushed to the LASU Health Centre and subsequently transferred to the Igando Medical Hospital due to excessive bleeding. Fortunately, he is responding well to treatment. The Dean of Students Affairs of LASU was present at the hospital to offer support and assistance to the students.
