Students battle leaky roofs and reptiles at Ogun Public School

Some parents in Ayetoro Makun community in Sagamu West Local Government Area of ​​Ogun State have lamented the deplorable condition and poor facilities of the only public primary school in the area.

When Punch Metro visited St Paul’s Anglican Primary School, which is said to have been founded in 1916, it was found that the three classroom building had been abandoned due to poor condition.

Our correspondent noticed that a significant portion of the roof had been blown away by the wind.

Grass had grown thick around the building, and the students were at the mercy of the reptiles.

Punch He learned that Metro had only two classrooms in another building built next to this unfortunate building that could accommodate about 150 students.

In an interview with Punch Metro, the president of the school’s Parents and Teachers Association, Olasunkanmi Sodimu, said, “Primary schools existed before I was born.There are no good classrooms for these children, and they are not. “No,” he said, criticizing the school’s situation. It’s a comfortable learning environment to work in.

“During my tenure, we hired additional teachers to teach these students and the local authority paid their salaries.” We charge a fee to their parents and some donate money. However, all of our employees have finished school.

“This is the only public elementary school in the area. “Parents are no longer taking their children to school because they do not have good facilities and equipment to support their learning,” Olasunkanmi told our correspondent.

Another mother, who identified herself only as Odewale, said: These children do not feel comfortable in the learning environment. The government should help rebuild this school. ”
