The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government. This is in response to the government’s failure to implement the agreements reached on October 2, 2023, following the removal of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).
The NLC and TUC are concerned about the mass suffering and hardship experienced across the country. The unions stated that the October 2 agreement aimed to address the economic consequences of the hike in the price of petrol and the devaluation of the naira. The strike notice demands that the government honors its part of the understanding within 14 days.
