The media aide to the honourable Minister for Sports and Youth Development, Kola Daniel on Saturday morning declared Ogbomosho Marathon Race open, Obaland Magazine learnt.
The marathon which attracted a countless number of athletes across the country has been declared open by the honourable Minister represented by his media aide.
According to the media aide to the honourable minister, Kola Daniel who represented Mr Sunday Dare at the glamorous event tagged ‘Ogbomoso Marathon Race’.
“I am here to represent the Minister who could not make the trip to Ogbomoso owing to his tight schedules.
Kola told Obaland reporter that “I must admit the fact that, I am highly impressed with what I have seen here today. I am happy that the young talented athletes have showcased what they can do when it comes to long-distance race, it is really worthy of note that there is an abundance of talents in this country.
He added that the ace sports journalist went further to acknowledge the fact that event like this will no doubt pave way for young athletes to become world stars.
He revealed that “There is no better way to discover young and local talents than putting together a magnificent event like this. We witnessed the Lagos, Kaduna marathon race and now Ogbomoso Marathon Race, kudos to the organizers. It can only get better.
“The iron of it all is that Marathon symbolizes, the journey of life, a race that involves ups and downs, that might be stormy, curvy, rough or whatever. Winning triumph is the expected goal.
Kola Daniel commended the Sports Minister for sponsoring an event like this which serves as an avenue to discover and develop raw talents, and urge the organizers not to relent.
“I want to commend my principal, the Sports Minister, Mr Sunday Dare who made the event a reality with his financial and material contribution towards the success of the Ogbomosho Marathon Race. Other notable dignitaries in attendance, veteran sports journalist Dare Esan, former Kwara State Director of Sports, Mr Kazeem and secretary General of Athletics Federation of Nigeria Mr Niyi.
He concluded that “I want to urge the organizers to build on the success of this event in order to discover and develop more local talents.
