Terrorists attacked Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday night, leaving five people dead and over a dozen injured.
Five residents were also kidnapped in the attack around 10 p.m.
Some residents said terrorists attacked the city en masse and began firing sporadically.
The residents, who requested anonymity, added that because of the presence of security forces and vigilante groups in the city, the terrorists initially attacked from the suburbs, but gradually moved inland and intensified their attacks.
One of the residents revealed that “without the efforts of security forces and vigilante groups, the casualties would have been much higher.” He said
On Monday morning, while security forces and vigilante groups were patrolling, The area was generally quiet.
Spokesperson of the National Police Command, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the development.
He said: “The incident occurred at 10pm. We have already begun an investigation and our men are monitoring the situation at the scene.”
