The Elegushi of Ikate, Saheed Elegushi, a monarch of Lagos, has accused INEC of not doing enough to validate voter petitions to change their assigned voting place.
The Elegushi alleged that “weird” people were allowed to participate in the election because INEC did not do its homework.
It was reported that thugs had disrupted voting, so the king addressed the media outside of his palace.
The crowd was large, he added, but he had one question for the Independent National Electoral Commission: “How can anybody simply go to your (INEC) website and make a transfer…?”
The address they offer you is false, and you didn’t bother to check it out.
There are a lot of people we don’t recognise, and we don’t know how they got here if they don’t reside in the area. As far as I’m concerned, that’s a challenge we need to accept. Certainly, we need to pick it back up after the election. He went on to say that it was wrong that so many people who didn’t reside in the area were casting ballots there.
The polling unit at Ikate, Eti-Osa, Lekki, was reportedly attacked by thugs earlier. The Oba Elegushi Palace is nearby.
