According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, the suspects were apprehended, and a number of weapons were recovered from them. The recovered weapons include an English pump action rifle, a short machine gun, a locally made pistol, and 11 rounds of 9mm live cartridges.

The suspects have been identified as Godwin Adam, Isaac Samuel Bassey, Emmanuel Hanson Isong, and Victor Usoro Eyire. They are believed to be members of the Black Axe Confraternity and are suspected to have been involved in the murder of a member of the Klanz Cult group, Kufre Usoro. The arrests were made as part of the police’s efforts to address inter-confraternity clashes in the Eket area.

The Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, gave a directive to the DPO of Eket Division, SP Felix Ekpoudom, to apprehend the culprits and ensure they face prosecution. The police acted swiftly based on credible information and successfully arrested the suspects.

In addition to the arrests, the police also recovered weapons from the suspects’ operational base in Ikot Oku Ikono Village, Uyo L.G.A. The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend other members of the gang who are still at large and recover any remaining weapons.
