Exactly nine months after their historic June 2022 match against Sao Tome and Principe, the Super Eagles will be back in action in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) announced on Tuesday that the Super Eagles’ third group stage encounter, against Guinea Bissau’s Wild Dogs, would take place at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola National Stadium on March 24.

Depending on when the Federaço de Futebol do Guiné-Bissau settles on, the second game might take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on either March 27th or 28th.

Just like Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea Bissau does not have a CAF-approved stadium.

After a dismal performance at the last AFCON in Cameroon, the Super Eagles have shown a remarkable commitment to return to the continental championship, which will be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles rallied from a goal down to defeat the Sierra Leonean Leone Stars 2-1 in front of a mostly empty stadium in Abuja on the first day of the qualification campaign. Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen scored for the Eagles to come back from a surprise deficit after Jonathan Morsay put Sierra Leone in front.

The Eagles defeated Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 on Day 2 in the Moroccan city of Agadir, just Coach José Santos Peseiro’s second competitive match.

Osimhen scored four goals in the matchup, with Terem Moffi chipping in with two. Moses Simon, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ademola Lookman, and Emmanuel Dennis formed a quartet with the same objective of destroying the whole island.

If the Eagles can sweep the Wild Dogs, they will have a far easier time qualifying for the 2023 World Cup in Cote d’Ivoire.
