The University of Benin honors Dr Umakhihe

The University of Benin’s Faculty of Management Sciences hosted a grand event on its campus to induct several distinguished Nigerians, including Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, into its prestigious Hall of Fame. The ceremony, part of the 2024 International Annual Conference of the Faculty, saw Dr. Umakhihe and other honorees recognized for their remarkable contributions to public service, professional excellence, and societal impact. The event took place at the Prof. Festus Iyayi Hall and featured an audience of academics, government officials, students, and professionals from various sectors.

Recognizing Excellence: Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe’s Impactful Career

Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, a renowned public servant and former federal Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, was awarded an Award of Merit in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public service and his career-long commitment to advancing Nigeria’s agricultural sector. His work, marked by dedication to policy development and implementation, has helped shape the nation’s efforts toward achieving food security.

An alumnus of the University of Benin, Dr. Umakhihe’s journey from the classroom to the pinnacle of public service was celebrated as a model of integrity, hard work, and service to humanity. Despite his absence at the ceremony, Dr. Umakhihe’s legacy of meritorious service was eloquently represented by Mr. Raymond Imoudu, who expressed the former Permanent Secretary’s heartfelt gratitude to the Faculty of Management Sciences for recognizing his contributions.
