The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with a recent cult clash that took place in Budo Oke, Eyenkorin, Asa Local Government Area of the state. The clash, which occurred on Tuesday, resulted in the death of one person and the destruction of two houses in the Eyenkorin community.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Adams Isah, was allegedly stabbed in the chest by a leader of a rival cult group during an altercation. The altercation erupted between Adams Isah, also known as “Number One,” and Rasaq Olorunwa, both residents of Budo-Oke in Eyenkorin.
The Kwara State Police Command swiftly responded to the incident, and three suspects were apprehended at the scene of the crime. The suspects, Sulaiman Ismail, Mamud Ibrahim, and Mudashir Saheed, were found in possession of a Dane gun at the time of their arrest. They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ilorin for further investigation.
However, the police are still searching for Rasaq Olorunwa, who is currently at large, as well as other individuals involved in the cult clash who may have fled the scene. The police have assured the public that efforts are being made to track down the remaining culprits and bring them to justice.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Mr. Victor Olaiya, emphasized that membership of any cult group is a serious criminal offense under Nigerian law, and the law will be applied accordingly. He assured the public that normalcy has been restored to the area, and measures are being taken to ensure that justice is served.
