At least three people lost their lives in clashes between rival cult groups in North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
The conflict began last weekend, with two suspected cult members reported killed. According to a source in the area, the violent altercations were between members of the Black and Red cult groups. One of the deceased’s bodies was retrieved, while another victim’s head was severely injured.
The violence continued on Monday, resulting in the death of another person around 9:00 p.m., as confirmed by Nura Umar, chairman of a local vigilante group known as Operation Shara in North Bank.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Benue State Command stated that she was not aware of the incidents.
